Butterflies Building Homes and Lives – C. Frierson
The Xi Xi Chapter had a hard day of work helping with the construction of houses for Morris Habitat for Humanity (New Jersey) on Saturday October 6, 2012.
Habitat builds homes for those who are unable to buy a home. These homes are built by people who volunteer their time and skills to help others who are in need. Even those who may not have construction knowledge can help. Caulking and painting can be now be added to the skill sets of the Xi Xi sisters in attendance.
Continuing a weekend of service, on Sunday, October 7, 2012, Xi Xi chapter members supported the Rho Chapter at the 4th Annual NEDA Walk in NYC. NEDA stands for the National Eating Disorder Association, and they hold an annual walk which raises money and support for those who live with eating disorders and their families.
NEDA was formed in 2001 when Eating Disorders Awareness & Prevention (EDAP) joined forces with American Anorexia Bulimia Association (AABA). Since then, they have been a source of information and support for those affected by eating disorders. This year, NEDA raised over $180,000 at the annual walk with Theta Nu Xi counting in as one of the many contributors.
The walk hit home for members of the Rho Chapter. The Xi Xi Chapter was more than happy to stand beside our sisters to support them through the rain that came that day.
Sisterhood is not only about life long bonds or the support between Sisters within the same chapter. Sisterhood also means being there for other chapters as we support and help each other. That is Sisterhood!
